About Paul Balland:
A Frenchman by birth, Paul Balland arrived in London aged 21 looking to create his own story. Paul developed an instant and intense connection with London.
Paul’s technical knowledge of photography actively developed when he became a London florist 15 years ago; an element of the job being to take close-up stills of seasonal stems and images of in-situ floral arrangements. Paul is a proud self-taught photographer and continues further his own education on the subject to this day.
Paul describes his unique approach and style as street art photography’. Rather than encapsulating a scene as street photography’ aims to do, Paul’s attention to detail and creative observation enables him to look at what others don’t see. He captures every day items, spots or tableaus which go all but unnoticed; transforming the ordinary in to abstract art. From city walls to shutters, hospitals to boat yards, Paul’s photographic collection represents the integral inner beauty of London. It is this niche perspective, coupled with the use of the highest quality printing and framing components, which makes Paul’s work instantly recognisable as his own.
Paul’s latest voyage of discovery has taken him to towns outside of London, and even outside of the UK, where his signature ‘street art photography’ style is being applied to broader cultural landscapes.
