Perspex Face Mounting Overview

Perspex (Acrylic) Face Mounting, also known as Reverse Face Mounting, is the process of mounting a photographic print between a sheet of Perspex and a Dibond backing sheet.

The print, backing and acrylic are bonded together with an optically clear silicone adhesive which creates an airtight bond with no air bubbles between the print, Dibond and Perspex.

Perspex face mounts can be hung straight on to the wall, with no additional finishing required.

Advantages of Perspex Face Mounting

Perspex Face Mounting is available in either a matte or high-gloss finish and offers a contemporary mounting solution for those looking to present a finished piece without a frame. Refraction of light through the Perspex lends your artwork a vivid and deeply intense colouration. There is also the additional benefit of no light reflections between your artwork and the glazing of a traditional frame.

Each completed Perspex Face mount is supplied with an Aluminium sub-frame for a frameless finish, making it easy to hang and providing additional rigidity and support against warping. The subframe also provides a visible space between the mounted work and the wall, giving your photographs or artwork a three-dimensional ‘floating’ presence.

Using our precision cutter, we can produce face mounts in virtually any shape up to 2896 x 1524mm (114 x 60 inches).

Both Perspex and glass face mounting services provide exceptional finishing for photographs or artwork and use much the same process – the only real difference is the substrate chosen as the top layer of the finished piece.

Glass is less prone to scratching than Perspex although Perspex is a much more lightweight substrate and is available in a greater choice of sizes.
