What is Aluminium Mounting?

Aluminium mounting is a popular choice for photographers or artists to give their work a sleek, contemporary finish. Photographic prints are mounted to a 2mm thick aluminium sheet, precision-cut to the exact size of your print before the edges are polished. Although mounting on aluminium is perfect for achieving a contemporary frameless finish, we can also finish aluminium mounted prints with your choice of bespoke frame – giving you an outstanding image with superior rigidity and protection. We can produce Aluminium mounts in sizes up to 2 997 x 1 219mm (118 x 48 inches).

Why Should I choose Aluminium Mounting?

Aluminium mounting gives photographic prints a sleek, contemporary feel. The material is exceptionally rigid, flat and hard-wearing and offers prints a discreet, polished silhouette. Mounting prints to aluminium is especially popular with those who want a simple, frameless finish. An Aluminium is added to each completed piece – making it easy to hang and providing additional rigidity and support against warping. This sub-frame also provides a visible space between the mounted work and the wall, giving your photographs or artwork a 3-dimensional ‘floating’ presence.

ChromaLuxe Fine Art Printing:

We can also produce images direct to aluminium using our ChromaLuxe Fine Art printing service.

Our ChromaLuxe Fine Art Printing service uses a process called dye sublimation to produce images or artwork on slimline aluminium with either a high gloss or matte finish. Not only does producing prints to aluminium in this way save significant time, but the process renders the prints with an intense depth comparable to that of traditional Cibachrome prints. Prints produced in this way are also water, fire, chemical and abrasion-resistant and exclusive in London to Genesis Imaging. Find out more
