As an avid supporter of Maggie’s and with personal experience of cancer within her own family, photographer Zoë Law has collaborated with Maggie’s, a charity dedicated to supporting those facing cancer, on a photographic project which places the courageous individuals visiting Maggie’s centres at its heart.
Over the course of a year, Zoë personally invited people living with cancer to her London studio to take part in a special and memorable photoshoot with their family and friends. All of those who took part have been supported by Maggie’s across the UK through their different cancer experiences.
“I had the absolute privilege of spending the year taking portraits of the most incredible people that attend Maggie’s. My intention was to treat each subject to a day they will always remember, of complete VIP treatment from beginning to end. To capture them happy and supported, embracing this time of adversity with optimism, resilience, positivity and joy. Eventually presenting them with a memorable and beautiful portrait that they and their loved ones will always cherish.” Zoë shares her experience with this project.
This exhibition is a presentation of these photographs and of the amazingly courageous people who visit Maggie’s. Each image represents their joy of life and their resilience during and beyond cancer.
The exhibition is also a celebration of Maggie’s 21st birthday marking 21 years that the charity has been providing vital support to anyone living with cancer.

About Maggie’s:
Maggie’s is a charity which provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need.
Co-founded in 1996 by Maggie Keswick Jencks when she was told her breast cancer had returned, she created the blueprint for a new approach to cancer care which would help people to live well with cancer. The first Maggie’s Centre opened in Edinburgh in 1996 and since then Maggie’s has continued to grow, with 20 Centres at major NHS cancer hospitals in the UK and abroad.
21 years later, Maggie’s has just celebrated the opening of their 21st Centre and continues to offer the practical and emotional support needed to cope with challenges that living with and beyond cancer brings.
