As the year comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the exhibitions, events, and partnerships we’ve supported, along with the incredible clients and their projects that have made this year memorable. For 2024, we’re proud to celebrate the following highlights (in no particular order)

‘Storyteller: Photography by Tim Hetherington’ at Imperial War Museum London

Genesis was proud to have been a part of Imperial War Museum London’s latest exhibition, Storyteller: Photography by Tim Hetherington, producing Dibond mounted C-type and Giclée prints.

The exhibition explored a more thoughtful and visually captivating insight into conflict than in the news we watch or read, and challenges assumptions about war and those caught up in it.

A celebrated photojournalist, filmmaker and humanitarian, Hetherington often returned to the same places over several months or years to develop better connections with those whose stories he told.

Storyteller marked the 13th anniversary of Hetherington’s death while filming and photographing the Libyan Civil War (2011). With photography from across his career and a selection of his cameras and diaries on display, the exhibition also featured his film Sleeping Soldiers, shown across three screens as it was intended to be viewed.

Photo London 2024

Lola and Pani’s work featured as part of Palm Studios at Photo London 2024

We had the pleasure of seeing so many incredible works from our friends and clients on display at Photo London 2024! A huge congratulations goes to the Genesis team for all the hard work put into printing, mounting, and framing for this year’s fair – it was a job well done!

Annesa Dawoojee: March of the Hummingbirds at Saatchi Gallery

We were thrilled to have worked with photographer Aneesa Dawoojee on her exhibition March of the Hummingbirds at London’s Saatchi Gallery, producing Direct to Media UV prints on Dibond.

March of the Hummingbirds celebrates the intertwined histories and cultures of the Caribbean and Mauritius. Inspired by her own Trinidadian and Mauritian roots, Dawoojee’s work highlights community spirit, multiculturalism, and shared values across generations.

Dawoojee’s photographs honour the stories of Caribbean and Mauritian elders, revealing deep links between the West Indies and the UK through themes of identity, resilience, and connection. Her hope is to share these narratives in schools across the UK, fostering empathy and understanding in diverse communities.

The exhibition is on display until 5th January 2025.

AOP Photography Awards 2024

Gabrielle Brooks, Genesis Imaging, with Gold winner: Carol Allen-Storey

Genesis was honoured to support the highly anticipated Association of Photographers (AOP) Awards in 2024, continuing our commitment to celebrating excellence in photography.

As a leading provider of professional photographic services, Genesis Imaging recognises the importance of supporting emerging talents and established photographers alike, which is why we continue to support The AOP awards.

As well as being showcase sponsors, we were honoured to sponsor the ‘Project’ category.

This category focuses on long-term photographic projects on a singular subject that portrays a narrative, illustrated in a series of 10-20 images or short-form film.

Congratulations to the Gold winner, Carol Allen-Storey and Silver winner, Owen Harvey!

Genesis was delighted to once again support Photo50 at London Art Fair; an annual exhibition of contemporary photography which provides a critical forum for examining some of the most distinctive elements of current photographic practice. The 2024 edition of the fair was curated by Revolv Collective and supported by our Exhibition Printing and Installation Services.

Genesis Imaging X Royal College of Art, MA Photography Bursary

This year we were honoured to partner with the Royal College of Art’s MA Photography programme, offering a bursary of £1000 worth of credit towards our services.

The recipient of the bursary was John Offenbach, who utilised the award to print editions of his project, Palimpsest. The project focuses on the silver grains found in his archived negatives, which are the fundamental particles of pre-digital photography. Each grain, less than a micron in diameter, is unique, with no two ever identical. His work addresses themes of ageing and memory, exploring the processes of remembering, forgetting, and revisiting the past.

John employs various techniques in his practice. In some instances, he physically removes the silver from his negatives and repurposes it as ink for new works. In other cases, he examines the negatives under a microscope, scanning the granular structure to create files that are then layered into new imagery. This approach allows for a dynamic engagement with his past work, using these elements as a way to bridge the past and present.
