We are once again delighted to support the Rhonda Wilson Award which celebrates new talent in photography. The award was announced as a new initiative in 2017, in honour of Rhonda Wilson MBE (1953-2014) who was a photographer, writer, editor, educator and creative whirlwind. This award will be presented at The FRESH Annual Summer Show, an exhibition produced and presented by Klompching Gallery.
Through an Open Call for submissions, five photographers are selected and curated into a group exhibition. The awardee will then be selected by an esteemed panel of photographers, publishers, writers and curators specialising in photography. The panel will be chaired by Debra Klomp Ching.
FRESH are looking for the very best examples of new contemporary fine art photography – single bodies of work with a consistent vision and originality. Reflecting how photography is understood across different platforms, FRESH thoughtfully incorporates the three elements of display, publication and dissemination: an exhibition, a printed catalogue, and an online showcase.
The 2019 Rhonda Wilson Award:
• $2,000 cash – provided by Klompching Gallery.
• One spot at the 2020 Houston FotoFest Meeting Place – provided by FotoFest International.
• Portfolio of prints + clamshell box – provided by Genesis Imaging.
• 5 hours of mentoring/consultancy with Darren Ching.
The award winner will be announced publicly on 10th July 2019 with the FRESH Summer Exhibition taking place on 17th July and running until 10th August 2019.
