We are thrilled to support the Rhonda Wilson Award, which celebrates the legacy of Rhonda Wilson MBE. The award champions new talent in photography, providing the recipient with support, exposure and opportunity to further their career as a fine art photographer. Through an Open Call for submissions, up to five photographers are selected and the award will be presented at the FRESH Annual Summer Show – an exhibition produced and presented by the Klompching Gallery.

The recipient of the Rhonda Wilson Award will be selected by an esteemed panel of photographers, publishers, writers and curators specialising in photography. The panel will be chaired by Debra Klomp Ching, owner of Klompching Gallery.

$1,000 Cash

Complimentary place on the workshop Business of the Image: A Photographers’ Bootcamp on Working with Galleries, provided by Maine Media Workshops + College.

Guaranteed, complimentary place at the FotoFest 2018 Meeting Place Portfolio Review, provided by FotoFest International.

£500 (c. $750) toward portfolio development materials – provided by the BA Hons and MA Photography course, Nottingham Trent University, England.

The award is a way to keep Rhonda’s legacy alive, and to continue some of the amazing work that she did to support photographers through exposure, opportunity and mentorship. Genesis are proud to support the award.

About Rhonda Wilson MBE:

Rhonda Wilson MBE (1953 – 2014) was a champion of photography, best known for being the creative force behind the Rhubarb-Rhubarb International Festival of the Image – an annual, three day portfolio review that brought hundreds of photographers and industry specialists from around the world to Birmingham, UK. It was considered the best of its kind in Europe, and quickly built up a respected international profile.

Throughout the early 2000’s Rhonda Wilson’s company was given many different awards for its achievements.  In the New Year’s Honours List of 2005, Rhonda was awarded an MBE for her contribution to photography and international trade.
