Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) have announced the winners of the 2019 competition!

Travel photographers from 144 countries submitted over 20,000 images spanning all corners of the globe to the annual photography competition. Photographers of all ability are annually invited to enter this one-of-a-kind-event. TPOTY is known for the diversity of the images submitted, from iPhone photos to professional projects.

The overall winner of the Travel Photographer of the Year title is Katy Gomez Catalina. Katy is an amateur photographer with a doctorate in veterinary medicine and her vast portfolio of work spans the 60 countries she has visited.

Indigo Larmour is the overall title winner of Young Travel Photographer of the year and is 11-years-old. Indigo has been travelling in a van with her family since she was three weeks old, and is currently driving from India to the UK.

Each year TPOTY collates a snapshot of the world with poignant images of both beauty and sadness. More of this year’s chosen images include wild horses in the desert (Brian Clopp, USA), beautiful ice sculptures (Ignacio Palacios, Australia/Spain), orangutans fighting for their lives (Alain Schroeder, Belgium) and powerful scenes from the Hong Kong protests (Kiran Ridley, UK).
