As another year draws to a close, we’ve been reflecting on some of our particular highlights for 2018… (in no particular order!):

2. Genesis Imaging Postgraduate Bursary Award
In addition to the existing support we currently offer to students of Nottingham Trent University, London College of Communication and Westminster University and our student and graduate discounts, we announced earlier this year the inaugural Genesis Postgraduate Bursary Award – full production of one individual’s degree show (up to the value of £2000) alongside 12 months mentoring and support, promotion via our newsletter and social media channels and invites to industry events and exhibitions. 3. David Yarrow and The Chapman Brothers at The Tusk Rhino Trail
The Tusk Rhino Trail is a London wide art installation that celebrates the magnificence of the rhino, and draws attention to the severe threat of poaching to their survival. Each rhino has been specially designed, decorated and embellished by internationally renowned artists and is sponsored by a Tusk supporter or partner. Genesis are delighted to have been an official sponsor of a rhino bearing the artwork of David Yarrow and to have produced the vinyl wrap for both David Yarrow and The Chapman Brothers’ rhinos. 4. Photo London Fair
Genesis are once again delighted to have been the Print and Finishing Partner of the highly regarded Photo London fair at Somerset House in London on 17th May 2018, supporting the unique event with our extensive exhibition production services.
Now in its fourth edition, Photo London 2018 showcased over 100 Exhibitors including many of the world’s leading specialist galleries and publishers. The Public Programme featured major exhibitions, talks, awards and installations that reflect on the rich history of the medium and its future directions. 5. The Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography: ‘Civilisation: The Way We Live Now’
Civilization: The Way We Live Now is a major touring exhibition featuring the work of 100 of the world’s finest photographers. Starting at The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Civilisation addresses and illuminates major aspects of our increasingly global 21st century civilisation and stresses the fact that contemporary civilisation is an extremely complex collective enterprise. In parallel with the exhibition, a major publication has been produced – Civilization’ is published by Thames & Hudson and FEP Editions. Read more…
6. London Art Fair 2019 (ok, ok, we know we’re getting ahead of ourselves..)

7. Astronomy Photographer of the Year
Every year, the Royal Observatory in Greenwich hold the Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year’ competition. It’s the largest international competition of its kind and showcases the best space photography from a global community of astrophotographers. To celebrate the competition’s 10th year, a new gallery has opened at the National Maritime Museum to display these stunning images (which have been produced as Duratrans by Genesis Imaging). The exhibition is still on until 5th of May 2019, so plenty of time to see it! Read more here…
8. The Genesis Graduate Discount
Our Graduate discount has been used by a wide range of graduates throughout the year, providing a continued 20% discount across all of our professional photographic services for a year after students graduate, with 10% discount for the year that follows.
9. Fix Photo Festival
The fourth edition of Fix Photo Festival featured 16 solo artists and the finalists and winners of the FIX Photo Awards (which we produced as Lambda C-type prints) at Menier Gallery. Including a talks and events programme, the event was a great success – we can’t wait for the next one! Read more here…
10. The Picture Editors Guild Awards
The exceptionally talented photographers working behind the lens throughout the media today were celebrated at the annual Awards event, which took take place in London at the Honourable Artillery Company Headquarters on12th March 2018.
Genesis Imaging are once again delighted to support the UK Picture Editors’ Guild annual awards as a sponsor of the Regional Photographer of the Year category. Read more.
11. Students!
Genesis is proud to support students as part of our commitment to the next generation of creative professionals. We have forged relationships with some of the best universities across the creative industries to offer current and graduating students support through discount, bursaries, mentorship and career development opportunities alongside our own award, The Genesis Imaging Postgraduate Bursary Award which launched earlier this year.
This year sees students awarded bursaries for final year projects across a diverse range of subjects, which we celebrate here…
12. Remembering Great Apes at La Galeria
‘Remembering Great Apes’ is the third instalment of the Remembering Wildlife book series created by British wildlife photographer Margot Raggett. Over 70 of the world’s top wildlife photographers have collaborated on this book and the images were celebrated at La Galleria Pall Mall in October, raising funds for great ape conservation projects via the Born Free Foundation. Genesis are delighted to support the exhibition with Giclee Fine Art Prints and Classic Gallery Frames. Read more here…
13. Travel Photographer of the Year
This year’s exhibition featured 140 images from the 2017 Travel Photographer of the Year competition. We are delighted to have produced the work for the exhibition as Direct to Media UV, Lambda C-type and ChromaLuxe Fine Art prints. 15. The Firecracker Grant
We are proud to once again support Firecracker by contributing to the annual Firecracker Grant – an annual award providing funding for a female photographer to aid with the completion of a documentary photographic project. Read more about The Firecracker Grant.

18. And a new machine…
We can now offer clients more precise detail, and new capabilities to print in larger sizes using roll-to-roll printing (even bigger than 3x2m!). This new machine, the Swiss Q Nyala, is able to produce images in high gloss, or with a matte surface and has the ability to further intensify pieces with tactile finishes. The scope for such printing is vast: printed selectively or across the whole expanse of the piece. Learn more…
19. Phil Griffin ‘Dark Matter’ at Keteeler Gallery
The origin of Phil’s exhibition earlier this year lies in examining what colour means and what it represents in our current society. Phil chose to depict 13 men with different backgrounds with whom he built a very strong personal relationship throughout the creative process. The resulting images are a vibrant look at masculinity and colour. Read more…
